About Wish-A-Mile® Bicycle Tour

The Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour started in 1987  when four friends challenged each other to ride 300 miles from Canton to Mackinac. In the 35 years since then, WAM has grown into the largest fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Michigan. With your support this year, WAM will reach an incredible milestone - $35 million raised over 35 years - an incredible accomplishment for the dedicated WAM riders and volunteers who return year after year to make wishes possible for Michigan children battling critical illnesses.

You can be a difference maker for wish kids in your community by joining us for the 35th annual Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour on July 28-31, 2022. Whether you sign up for the WAM 300, WAM 50, WAM Jr., as a Virtual participant or as a volunteer, you can help create transformational wishes for Michigan wish kids. Register today to help make wishes possible for courageous Michigan children.

Wish-A-Mile® Bicycle Tour COVID Policy

The safety of our wish families, event participants, volunteers, staff, donors and community is our top priority.  Make-A-Wish® Michigan has health and safety procedures in place to help mitigate the risk of COVID. Because the virus that causes COVID-19 is extremely contagious, no level of risk mitigation can guarantee you will not be exposed to COVID . Yet, we are taking precautions to help keep our WAM family safe. It is vital that you also take key steps to protect our WAM family. Here are a few important details we want to make sure you are aware of prior to the tour:

  • Out of an abundance of caution for all participants, we strongly encourage riders, volunteers, staff and guests to be fully vaccinated and/or have a negative COVID-19 test within 48 -72 hours of the event.

  • If you are feeling sick, exhibiting COVID symptoms or been in close personal contact with someone who has recently tested positive for COVID, please do not attend the event.

  • If during the event you feel sick or begin to exhibit COVID symptoms, please immediately see a medic. HealthBar will be on tour with us this year to assist with health concerns that arise.

  • It is recommended that WAM riders, volunteers and staff wear a mask when inside unless actively eating and drinking while seated at their table or sleeping at the overnight location.

Make-A-Wish Michigan has a protocol in place in the event someone tests positive for COVID once WAM begins. If any rider or volunteer tests positive for COVID, our safety protocols will be activated, and we will follow the guidance of trained on-route medical professionals.

About Make-A-Wish® Michigan

Make-A-Wish Michigan began in 1984 when Joshua, an 11-year-old from Tecumseh, wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort. Fourteen other courageous children experienced the joy of a wish in that first year.

Today, Make-A-Wish Michigan grants wishes to hundreds of Michigan children annually, granting more than 10,000 wishes in its history. In 2021, Make-A-Wish Michigan granted 364 transformational wishes to courageous Michigan children.

The mission of Make-A-Wish Michigan is elegantly simple: We create life-changing wishes for Michigan kids with critical illnesses. Our vision is to grant a wish for every eligible child in Michigan.
